Wedding Updo.

Recommended:
Never underestimate the importance of bobby pins.

My dad's big day had finally arrived and I was still torn between two updos to wear to his wedding... I woke up with raging bedhead and decided that on that particular day, I was in the mood for this one!

It consisted of a poof by the crown of my head and then just a bunch of crisscrossed twists. And LOTS of bobby pins. I did this style while half asleep and thanked my locks for being so cooperative for the day. The style even held up through pictures outside in the wind (this was taken after that whole ordeal)! I left my usual side bangs out in front like so:

I wore a Jones New York dress with black tights and heels, and just did some simple makeup since it was a daytime wedding with no particular dress requirements. The simplicity of the outfit and hairstyle as a whole was really great, especially since I was in a time crunch during a slightly chaotic morning.

The wedding turned out amazingly!

What do you guys look for in a wedding hairstyle?

The Great Gatsby, Revisited.

Recommended:
The Great Gatsby.

The Great Gatsby has always been one of those books that I knew I loved but I just couldn't quite remember why and I couldn't really remember the plot... It made a lasting impression but that impression was more an emotion than anything else. With the movie coming out (I can't wait to see it!), I decided to reread the book and I was pleasantly reminded of why I had loved it so much. It was like visiting an old friend you haven't really been in touch with but once you meet it's like no time has passed at all. I strongly recommend reading or rereading The Great Gatsby and then going to the movie to enjoy it in picture and to drool over the costumes designed by Miuccia Prada.

I'm definitely planning on going to the midnight showing! Is anyone else?

My Favorite Ways to Procrastinate (Unfortunately).

Recommended:
Do not learn your procrastination habits from me.

With school in session I have naturally developed new ways to procrastinate. Such is life. I'm on my computer a lot either writing papers or studying the class slides so most of my procrastination techniques involve the internet. Here are the top five ways I am currently procrastinating:

1. Watch You Tube. Oops, where did the time go?

2. Plan outfits. I literally just stare at my clothes while I'm "taking a break" and put things together in my mind's eye.

3. Check my Facebook. Even if I just checked it five minutes ago.

4. Obsess over my blog. Ratings, design, new posts, etc.

5. Obsess over other peoples' blogs. Read old posts of my favorite bloggers and find new bloggers. The possibilities are endless.

To put things into perspective: I have done all of these things today.

Fashion's Day Off.

Recommended:
Pajamas and a cup of tea.

I probably check, double check, and look again at my appearance before I deem myself worthy of leaving the house. I'm slightly neurotic when it comes to the placement of my hair, clothing, and makeup. As important as these things are to me on a usual day out, these "qualities" definitely fly out the window on a day when I know I will not be leaving the house. I'm not one to put on my best lounging gear to traipse around the house. My hair is lucky if I have the courtesy of piling it into a bun; otherwise it sits at odd angles, frizzing in places, until I hear a knock at the door. My bare-faced, cut up tee, sweatpants wearing self sits in stark contrast to my makeup-ed, outfit planned the night before self. If those two "selves" met on the street I think my 'approved for public' self would want to take my 'fashion's day off' self for a makeover. If someone were to look in on one of my day's off, they may find it ironic that miss frizz head shlub is catching up on different fashion blogs. Just slightly ironic. I would post a picture of my pajama-wearing self but I don't think my fashionista self would be too pleased come morning. So I will leave that image up to your imagination. Good luck.
