Between the Lines.

Recommended:
Celebrate the small steps

Well, I've finally done it!
*Happy Face*

As a follow up to my 'Drawing Inspirations' post, I wanted to announce that I've created, although small and not on proper paper, a little series of artwork. It was a fun little project I took upon myself to create while trying to pay attention in my personality psychology class (I love you personality psychology, but sometimes you are a very dry topic). All of these little doodles were done on notebook paper which is why I decided to title the series 'Between the Lines'. Hopefully the ideas of the doodles outlive the cliche name. Here are the little masterpieces (as I like to dramatically call them while doing a little 'ta da!' with my arms):

The birth of the series idea.
Going crazy with the thing. See if you can follow the story!
Cutesie.
Fun!
Random.
Eyelashes!
Forest within a claw.

What do you think of the name? Do you like it? Any better ideas?
Hope you enjoyed!

Drawing Inspirations.

Hold on to your edge

For a while now I've been trying to reclaim my drawing edge that I seem to have lost. I've compiled a nice amount of photos that I think lend themselves well to drawings. Here are some of them that I have come across:

Hope you enjoyed!

Finals Week.

Recommended:
Don't stress.

Well, first day of finals is done with. I'm always weird when it comes to the end of classes. It's hard investing so much time and effort into a class and then ending it by dropping off a term paper in your teacher's mailbox or filling in a bunch of bubbles on a sheet of paper. I need something to signify the end. So here is a list of things I did today to create a significant ending to my semester in the two classes I had finals for:

  • I actually looked up from my seat on the train and noticed someone in my writing class so we walked from the train to campus together and figured out we have a class together next semester!
  • When dropping off my term paper in my teacher's mailbox, I stood there until someone else came to drop theirs off and we chatted a bit before parting ways
  • I sat next to someone from my psychology lecture before going in to take the test and we talked about the semester and wished each other luck.
  • I took the bus home for the first time.

These things may seem like usual occurrences but it was the first time I talked to some of those people from my classes and I did things consciously in order to signify an end to the semester for myself.

Overall, it was a really great first day of finals.
Good luck to all of you who are or will be taking finals!

One Picture.

“A picture held us captive. And we could not get outside it, for it lay in our language and language seemed to repeat it to us inexorably.”
- Ludwig Wittgenstein, Philosophical Investigations

One Picture:

(I love it because it screams Summer)

I hope you enjoyed seeing the Ten Day Challenge as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Two Songs.

“And I thought about how many people have loved those songs. And how many people got through a lot of bad times because of those songs. And how many people enjoyed good times with those songs. And how much those songs really mean. I think it would be great to have written one of those songs. I bet if I wrote one of them, I would be very proud. I hope the people who wrote those songs are happy. I hope they feel it's enough. I really do because they've made me happy. And I'm only one person.”
- Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Two Songs:

1. Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen (so many layers to it!)

2. Falling Slowly, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová (from the amazingly amazing movie, Once)

Tomorrow: One Picture.

Seven Wants.

“I don't want whatever I want. Nobody does. Not really. What kind of fun would it be if I just got everything I ever wanted just like that, and it didn't mean anything? What then?”
- Neil Gaiman, Coraline

Seven wants:

1. The perfect red lipstick (still searching... maybe I'm just not meant to wear red lipstick)

2. Writing inspiration (always thinking about this one)

3. An amazing camera (there are so many moments I want to capture clearly! plus my blog could use some good photos)

4. Understanding (I don't mean to sound cliche, but too bad)

5. Some chewing gum (I need to go grocery shopping)

6. Comfortable high heels (because I could always use a few more inches without killing my feet)

7. A hot tub (because why not?)

Tomorrow: Six Places.

Ten Secrets.

I've decided to embark on the ten day challenge! For the next ten days I will be sharing a countdown of numerous things, from ten secrets down to one picture. Fellow bloggers, I invite you to join in!

“If you want to keep a secret, you must also hide it from yourself.”
- George Orwell, 1984

Ten Secrets:

1. I own multiple shades of red lipstick from my search for the perfect red... not sure if I've found it yet.

 2. I have a little patch of pure white eyelashes on my left eye.

3. On most days, if anyone took off my boots they would be surprised as to what kind of socks I would be wearing.

4 .My eyebrows are completely different shapes so it takes mathematical skill to pluck them right.

 5. I'm very clumsy.

6. I really want to be able to pull off a fanny pack.

7. I have a tooth that is mostly fake.

8. I still wear the Hello Kitty pajama bottoms that I got when I was ten.

9. I'm a slow reader.

10. I'm trying to write a novel... it's going very slowly.

Tomorrow: Nine loves!

Hair for Fancy Night.

I recently had a fancy night out and decided to pounce on the opportunity to do an elaborate hairstyle I've been wanting to try out. It wasn't an everyday sort of look so I had to wait for a formal occasion (I did wear it to school the next day but that was partially because I was too lazy to take out the style). It didn't look like much from the front:

But the back was pretty elaborate!

It was a winding french braid that ended in a little bun that mimicked the petals of a flower. I then pinned a little flower in the middle for effect.

The night turned out great!

Black Boots.

Recommended:
Boots that you love and that love you

After a long search for black boots this season, Zappos was the one to finally end my search. I was tired of going into department stores and trying on multiple pairs of boots that made my short frame look swallowed up by big buckets. I love shopping with Zappos because they have videos of what the shoe actually looks like on their models, so I was able to gauge what they would look like on me. I found the David Tate Montana shoe and fell in love. The lace-up look was the perfect solution to the undesired 'bucket' look. These boots are great paired with something casual or with something a little nicer to give it some edge. They're great! They have the perfect comfort level and when I wear them I feel like a super cool theme song should be playing as I walk.

What are you doing in preparation for Winter?
